2025 Theme
“Small Town, Big Vision” celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit, ambition, and collaborative energy that thrive in close-knit communities. Innovation isn’t limited to big cities, it flourishes in places where creativity, resilience, and local support bring bold ideas to life.
Our town embodies this vision. From students testing new ventures and alumni growing thriving businesses, to local entrepreneurs and shaping meaningful change, we see every day how ambition takes root here. Together, we prove that small beginnings can spark big achievements when a community dreams, builds, and supports one another.
THE STORY
What was once merely an idea in August 2021 from a former GSW MBA student from California, has come to life through the help and inspiration of his former MBA Professor and GSW’s former Provost. They agreed hosting a TEDx event was a great way to connect online MBA students with on-campus faculty, staff and students in a meaningful way while shining a light on the Americus community at the same time.
Relive the 2023 Event.
Georgia Southwestern’s second TEDx experience was held on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023 in the Magnolia Manor Nursing Auditorium. Students, staff, and community speakers expressed some of their most personal stories amongst the crowd. Each story unique and inspiring, fostered an atmosphere of perspective and growth through “Leaving Your Mark.”
What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxGeorgiaSouthwesternU, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxGeorgiaSouthwesternU event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized. Learn more about TEDx.
This independent TEDx event is operated under license from TED.
